Session Guide

First off, thank you for choosing me to be your photographer, to capture your love, and special moments. It means the world to me that you entrust me with this, and I cannot wait to get to know you + your family,  and make this session one you'll never forget. 

I want to capture your family right now, in the moment, exactly as you are, with all of the unique bits and pieces. Goofy, loud, active, shy, or quiet whatever it is, we will have a blast.

How do you prepare?

location:

What I look for first is light, specifically, window light.  Find a couple places in your home that bring you joy (the nursery, your bed, the couch, a comfy chair, kitchen, patio, the options are endless). You can also text me photos of your home to help me have an idea prior to arriving!

an activity:

Something you do together.  Snuggle, read a book, have a very chilled out dance party, have coffee and hang out, it can be totally mundane, just something that brings you together as a family and captures your moments.

what to wear:

 Grays, whites, neutrals, and muted colors look amazing but don't feel limited . I ask that you don't wear neon bright colors as the colors cast onto your skin.  And barefoot or super clean socks 😂, isn't this simple??

the day before:

Get a ton of sleep (I know it is nearly impossible, but if you and babe are partying all night, maybe that fabulous partner of yours will let you nap once they get up)

Your home, tidy up and de-clutter- especially in the areas we might be - that will help the focus of the photos stay on you ( and not the stuff in your house) Your house doesn't need to  be perfect, but if you don't want it in your photos, you may want to find a hiding spot. Doing this the day before helps everyone's stress levels. **THIS IS NOT A JOB FOR THE NEW MAMA** Out source this to a willing friend of family member, your job is to snuggle babe.

hours before:

eat a healthy meal, nothing heavy, but something filling. Hungry bellies = grumpy kids and parents. 
Keep everything you do and say to the kids and each other as positive as possible.

Turn up the heat a degree or two, your baby hates the cold, which is fair, but they will not cooperate nearly as well if they're cold. If you've got a mini heater, great, if not, I'll bring one (Please let me know if I should bring mine)

Try and have your baby just finishing a big feeding as I arrive, this can really help babe get comfortable and be alert/happy or full/sleepy. Both are just lovely. If babe is fussing, dont worry, just do your mama thing.

during the session:

You will basically snuggle your new baby and oogle away, I will make suggestions and tell you where and how to sit but for the most part, I will capture each raw moment as it unfolds. We will get everyone together, siblings together (If there are any), baby with each parent, single baby shots, all of the goods. I ask that you refrain from getting upset if baby is fussy or things are not working, we can take a little break, nurse, diaper change, whatever it takes. 

Your Photo's
Will be ready within three-ish weeks of session date. You will receive the agreed upon number of images with an option to purchase additional. 

Prints and Canvas
Are available, and encouraged. I am available for image styling in your home, as well for in home consults for print and canvas ordering to keep it as streamlined as possible.
