Storytelling + memory making
Session Guide

First off, thank you for choosing me to be your photographer, to capture your love, and special moments. It means the world to me that you entrust me with this, and I cannot wait to get to know you + your family,  and make this session one you'll never forget.

I want to capture your family right now, in the moment, exactly as you are, with all of the unique bits and pieces. Goofy, loud, active, shy, or quiet whatever it is, we will have a blast.

How do you prepare?

location:

This part is fun, we have so many fun spots in the Taber/Lethbridge area, and with the option to travel if it’s past Lethbridge/Taber (.40/km) the options are truly endless. From fields to coulees, lakes and trees, city, studio and parking garage. Let me know what your heart is looking for, if you have no idea, it's fine lets make a dream plan.

the day before:

Get a ton of sleep. Get everyone excited to meet a new friend (aka me).

hours before:

eat a good meal, nothing heavy, but something filling. Hungry bellies = grumpy kids and parents.
Keep everything you do and say to the kids and each other as positive as possible.

during the session:

We will be playful, dance, run around, have slower moments, simple moments. There will be a mixture of prompts and poses and I will capture each raw moment as it unfolds. We will get everyone together, kids together, kids with each parent, single shots, parent shots, all of the things. I ask that you refrain from getting upset with each other if the kids are not listening, kids will be kids and if you're stressed, so is everyone else. Capturing the unique moments of each family is so important to me, these little details help your images become even more special. bribing children with mini marshmallows/fruit snacks/small no mess treats is completely acceptable just don’t tell them about it prior to us needing thing them! **for mini session’s Its basically super condensed. We start with those posed shots then move on to have some fun and capture those real smiles and precious moments.

what to wear:

I recommend that you don't wear neon bright colors due to them casting colors onto your face. Neutrals, creams, tans, navy blue, dusty pinks, muted/deep colors, pastels, all look really nice - Unless you are just bright and colorful because these are your photos. Don’t all wear the same colors, instead wear colors that complement each other. Adding layers such as a kimono, cardigan, flowing dresses, floppy hats, and jewelry can help bring life into your images. (depending on our location, bring extra shoes to walk in comfortably if you have heels or uncomfortable shoes).

Pinterest has some beautiful color palates and outfit inspiration for each season as well. I like to go through that and then go shopping or check what’s hiding in the closet! I LOVE to see your plans and idea’s so feel free to email them off to me anytime, and just ask if you need a hand choosing.

*Fall/Winter tip - Slight breeze’s can result in it feeling a lot colder than expected. Please dress the kids warmly - an extra layer under their outfit will make them much happier during photos or just bring an extra sweater for everyone. From experience, dads are also ‘over’ photos much quicker if they are chilly. Simply, a second shirt will solve the problem! Jackets for the walk to and from the car- and in between shots. If its really cold, mittens don’t hurt. The promise of hot chocolate after the session to warm everyone back up is a fun way to finish the day off!

*Spring/summer tip - PLEASE bring water so your kiddo’s stay happy
