Session Guide
First off, thank you for choosing me to be your photographer, to capture your love, and special moments. It means the world to me that you entrust me with this, and I cannot wait to get to know you + your family, and make this session one you'll never forget.
I want to capture your family right now, in the moment, exactly as you are, with all of the unique bits and pieces. Goofy, loud, active, shy, or quiet whatever it is, we will have a blast.
How do you prepare?
the day before:
Get a ton of sleep. Get everyone excited to meet a new/old friend (aka me).
hours before:
eat a good meal, nothing heavy, but something filling. Hungry bellies = grumpy kids and parents.
Keep everything you do and say to the kids and each other as positive as possible.
what to bring:
Your willingness to trust me and have some fun. These sessions are short and sweet. Come as you are!
during the session:
We will be playful, dance, run around, have slower moments, simple moments. There will be a mixture of prompts and poses and I will capture each raw moment as it unfolds. We will get everyone together, kids together, kids with each parent, single shots, parent shots, all of the things. I ask that you refrain from getting upset with each other if the kids are not listening, kids will be kids and if you're stressed, so is everyone else. Capturing the unique moments of each family is so important to me, these little details help your images become even more special. bribing children with mini marshmallows/fruit snacks/small no mess treats is completely acceptable just don’t tell them about it prior to us needing thing them!
what to wear:
I recommend that you don't wear neon bright colors due to them casting colors onto your face. Neutrals, creams, tans, navy blue, dusty pinks, muted colors, pastels, look really nice - Unless you are just bright and colorful because you do want to look like yourselves! Don't all wear the same colors, instead wear colors that complement each other. Adding layers such as a kimono, cardigan, flowing dresses, floppy hats, and jewelry can help bring life into your images.
Pinterest has some beautiful color palates and outfit inspiration for each season as well. I like to go through that and then go shopping or check what’s hiding in the closet! I LOVE to see your plans and idea’s so feel free to email them off to me anytime, and just ask if you need a hand choosing.
Timeline + photo details
Will be ready within about three weeks of session date. You will receive the agreed upon number of images with an option to purchase additional.
Prints + Canvas + Heirloom albums
Are available, and encouraged. You may place an order directly from your finished gallery. We can also build custom heirloom album’s or simple flat lay hard or soft cover magazine style books. *I highly recommend splurging and having this done for you, you’ll never regret looking at them. They are too precious to live on a hard drive.
